This lesson task is fairly simple, but an important step to begin studying screen based design. In the first part of this task I will be giving a description and explanation of a few terms before posing questions for clients to gain a proper understanding of the briefing process. This task challenged me to investigate how layout changes between physical and digital formats. I used the Norwegian newspaper VG as my base for comparison, looking at both their webpage and physical newspapers. This task had me analyzing a magazine to learn how they had approached their design of layout. The magazine I chose was a promotional magazine for Lush, which highlights information about hte brand as well as some of their most successful products. For this lesson task, I chose to go with something relatively simple for my brochure. The pages are rather straightforward with bodies of text as well as imgaes to complement them. Boys of Europe is a store mainly targeted towards young men and young adults. Their logo consists of a B surrounded by a circle with an orange backdrop and is often accompanied by the full brand name “Boys of Europe”. Question 1: Research and written lesson tasks This section of the lesson is based around understanding and explaining two colour systems: RBG and CMYK. RBG stands for Red-blue-green and bases the colour picked by the saturation of these three colours. For this lesson task I was challenged by making my own personal logo – inspired by the moodboard created in the previous lesson task. For this particular task I tried many different designs, mostly sketching rough takes in digital software to play around with colors and blends. This lesson task challenged me to create a moodboard, that is a visual representation of what you want a brand to represent. I chose to go with something cutsey and cozy, based around notebooks, stickers, pins and homey merchandise.
